External funding is essential for Norwegian research across most fields, with various funding sources contributing significantly to the scientific landscape. In particular, Norwegian research relies heavily on external public funding from the Research Council of Norway (RCN) and the EU. This policy brief presents an overview of the role of external funding in major fields in medicine and technology, using scientific articles as the primary data source.
